Uterine Cavity Test

This morning I went to the clinic for completing my last preliminary test. I was nervous because I was afraid of the pain. I was expecting something similar to sonogram. But it was more painful and tools intense, may be this is how they do a pap smear, but I have not done one before so it was intense for me. Doctor came in and he started examine with a big tool and the pain was hell, I think later the doctor realized that I am still dilating, he asked me if my dilator was as big as the tool, but as I have tried only 2 levels, mine was way smaller than the tool, so he said he is going to get a tiny one, but once he got it, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry because it was as big as the other oneJ. He used that to hold the vagina open so that he can do the exam, I think they poured in some water and viewed with a camera which displayed on a monitor, this time it was like a TV where we can see everything real. I dint see anything as I was holding my pain, finally he was saying that there are some polyps and he showed it on the monitor, it was like some tissue bulged in there that’s it, then he removed everything, everything happened in just few minutes but it was painful even after removing everything.  I thought sonogram was nothing compared to this. May be as this is the first time in my life I am doing all these, and so I might be exaggerating little bit, as even sonogram was pain for me. Doc told us that he can do a surgery to remove polyps and he asked us to schedule an appointment for it this week, but we wanted to give a break and start everything after the vacation as we already had some plans.

I dint know what to say, what to think and it was painful as well, we just asked the doctor what the name he mentioned and he write it down on a paper as “uterine polyps”. We came out and scheduled an appointment for Jan 9^th. The pain was there till noon and he also mentioned that there would be slight bleeding and I had mild bleeding, but I dint keep any pad as it was very mild. I am mentally broke down as well. I wasn't even sure if the doctor is telling the truth or what, he just came in saw something and said there are polyps and we need to do surgery. It’s hard for me to digest these and I see more and more coming. I started reading about the polyps and it seems like we have to remove it if we want to proceed. So I have to go for a surgery.

Preperation for IVF

Our First doctor appointment for IVF was on 9th DEC. It was nervous to get into the clinic. We waited for some time and the doctor came by to greet us, then we sat in a room and started talking, he got the background information first and he then explained what's the IVF process, I was still nervous even though the doctor sounded everything to be very very simple but the process scared me. He mentioned that before starting the IVF we have to complete some preliminary steps

•        Sonogram
•         Blood test
•     Uterine Cavity

And the medication for IVF had to be started after my next cycle and we can do the preliminary tests immediately then we discussed and decided to go for 2 of three preliminary test immediately.

First they did a sonogram, as usual I was very nervous and I being virgin and found my dilators to be hard to dilate, I was scared, the nurse came in and I explained here my situation and she also sounded that its very simple and she said she will be very gentle...she started the process, by seeing the tool I was scared again, it was a long plastic rod kind with a round thing on top and it was bigger, she tried and it was painful may be 3 of 10 so she gave some time and tried again with different angle and it was more pain, so she tried the previous angle and she moved little by little as pain increases she was asking me if she can push further...she was very very cooperative and I know I have to tolerate it because if I don't do it now I have to come back again and also I have tolerate this at some point, once she inserted completely, it was not painful, she was taking some screenshots and explaining what it is, as I was seeing it for the first time the screen, I dint get anything from that monitor. Then she counted eggs, said 10 eggs on left side and then she said she is going to rotate the rod inside to go to other side of uterus to count the right side egg. She said 8 eggs on other side and she took some more screenshots. Then she said she is going to pull the rod out, as it was coming out slowly, towards the end it was little painful, but everything was tolerable. 

It went well than I expected and I was happy with the nurse. Then we came out and gave blood test which is 2nd one. And scheduled an appointment for Uterine Cavity test on 15th DEC.

How and Why IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)

I know there are so many people going through the IVF(In Vitro Fertilization) process. And I am one of them. It was one big hard decision to make, but I wanted to share my experience so that anyone else might benefit from this. This is my first blog and I apologies if anything is wrong in here.

Let me first start off with why IVF, if you are reading this then sure you might have done lot of research and now you are at a final stage of IVF being the only option. It took me several painful (mentally) years to figure out the problem and to find what needs to be done.  Initially I was all over figuring out my problem for more than 2 years, trying to meet gynecologist, going for several counseling, reading lot of thing, trying different ways to get in to relationship as I am not in a sexual relationship with my husband.  Still I am not 100 % sure what’s the problem, the final clue was it might be because of Low testosterone level. So I was trying to fix my relationship problem and years passed by with no luck, and I wanted to take some decision, so one of my friend told me about IUI(Intrauterine insemination), and it took 6 month to decide between whether to fix the relationship problem or to go for a baby as I was scared that bringing a baby would bring still more gap between us and there might be a good chance that I may not be able fix my relationship problem. Finally we took the decision of going for IUI.

We went to see a specialist and he said it’s a simple process, I asked him if it’s a painful process I being still virgin. He started examine and it was mentally and physically hell lot of painful, he couldn't do anything. He suggested me to use a tampon or a dilator and he said I have to dilate or else it’s not possible or I have to go for surgery. He also referred a doctor for Sperm test for my husband. That day was really bad with emotions. But I had long way to go.

Problem never stops, now I was trying to use dilator, and I dint know how to use it. Again started reading about it and to be very frank I dint know where my vagina was, after long struggle and repetitive try I was successfully able use 2 of 6 sizes of the dilator. I count go beyond that. Meanwhile my husband booked appointment with a doctor for a sperm test. The results came back after 2 months, saying there are some problems. So he booked another appointment and tested again based on Doctor’s suggestion that the result might vary at different times. 2 weeks later the 2^nd test came back with the same results, so doctor told him that IUI is not an option and he wanted us to go for IVF if we are planning for a baby, and then come back again for fixing the relationship problem because treating the relationship problem might affect the IVF problem as sperm count might get affected.

Now, we finally decided to go for IVF. Even before that, I started reading about IVF and talking to my close friends about the expectations, process etc. When I read about IVF, I was scared about both physical and mental pain to go through this. And finally, decided to go for a baby. And That how My IVF process started.
